The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre said the driver and passenger, a 31-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, sustained injuries to their chest and legs.

Both were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Firefighters from the Lopeng station responded to the scene after receiving a distress call at 5.40 pm.

“When the firefighters arrived, the car was already engulfed in flames, and the two victims had been extricated by members of the public,” Bomba said in a statement.
