SIBU: A woman was left shaken after the Perodua Alza she was driving skidded and overturned in an accident along Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman (before the flyover) here early Friday morning.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), they received an emergency call regarding the incident at 6:20 am, and immediately deployed a team from the Sibu Jaya fire station to the scene, located about 10 kilometres away.
“Upon arrival, the accident was found to have involved a Perodua Alza which had skidded off the road.
“It is believed that the driver was thrown out of the vehicle, while the passenger managed to exit the car on his own before our team arrived,” said the statement.
The 38-year-old female driver sustained injuries, while her 11-year-old male passenger escaped with only minor injuries.
A medical team had arrived earlier to provide initial treatment to the victims before the rescue team reached the location.
Firefighters later conducted road flushing to ensure the area was safe, and the operation concluded at 7:53 am.
