MIRI: The car park expansion project at Nurul Jamilun Mosque, Surau Pujut Adong here has been successfully completed as planned on Friday (May 19).
Pujut assemblyman Adam Yii Siew Sang and Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Pujut Youth chief Kelvin Hii Shin Yang were present to witness the formal handover of project completion documents by the contractor to Pujut Adong village head Mohd Fauzi Abdullah, and representatives of the local residents.
Mohd Fauzi and the village representatives expressed their satisfaction with the outcome and quality of the project, extending their gratitude to Yii and his team for their meticulous supervision, which ensured the project was completed on time.
The three-month project, with a cost of RM150,000, involved the transformation of the surrounding area of the mosque, previously consisting of ditches and grass fields, into a properly serviced car park.
This development would provide mosque-goers with convenience during prayer sessions and other activities, effectively addressing the long-standing issue of inadequate local parking facilities. The new car park offers nearly 30 parking spaces.
Furthermore, safety poles had been installed at the road bend adjacent to the mosque entrance, providing additional protection for the residents.
Yii expressed his satisfaction with the quality of the completed project after visiting the site. He emphasised the importance of religion and affirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding the freedom of religious practices for the community, while also encouraging the positive development of all religions.
