BINTULU: A car was destroyed in a midnight fire outside SMK Orang Kaya Mohamad here, early Tuesday.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said it received an emergency call at 12.35 am before a team from the Bintulu fire station was rushed to the scene, about 3km away.
Upon arrival, the vehicle was already engulfed in flames. Firefighters acted swiftly, dousing the blaze using a water line from the fire engine’s onboard tank.
The operation was brought under control within 15 minutes and declared fully extinguished by 12.59 am.
No injuries were reported.
The car owner was not found at the scene, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The operation, led by PBK I Shukri Salleh, involved eight personnel, one Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and one Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit.
