MUKAH: The new Sarawak Centre of Technical Excellence (CENTEXS) Dalat is expected to be fully completed by the end of this year.

Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, said a variety of exciting programmes would be offered at the centre, including the establishment of a language centre.

“With this upcoming programme, it is hoped that it will serve as a platform for our children to strengthen their proficiency in multiple languages.

“This includes the Melanau language, English, Mandarin and others,” she said.

She made these remarks when officiating at the CENTEXS Mukah and Dalat 2025 Aidilfitri Gathering at CENTEXS Mukah yesterday.

Commenting further, she noted that CENTEXS Dalat is now well-known for its efforts in preserving cultural heritage through the Fashion Technology Programme, which combines traditional and modern clothing elements.

She explained that the programme has received encouraging support from the local community, and has successfully produced many trainees who are now active entrepreneurs or working in the fashion industry.

Fatimah, who is also Dalat assemblywoman, stated that Mukah and Dalat are among the areas with significant potential in human capital development, particularly in the field of technical skills.

She added that through innovative approaches and collaboration with industry players, CENTEXS not only produces a skilled workforce but also nurtures ethical, competitive, and high-minded individuals.

Meanwhile, CENTEXS Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Syeed Mohd Hussien Wan Abdul Rahman, said the event also served as a platform to showcase new technologies and skills that can generate job opportunities.

“Moreover, such exposure can help improve the socioeconomic status of the community and integrate Mukah and Dalat into Sarawak’s digital development wave.

“In addition, CENTEXS Mukah has now become a global centre for education and digital technology with a focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Renewable Energy, Robotics and other Green Technologies,” he said.

He further stated that CENTEXS has begun a strategic realignment to strengthen its aerospace training programme and expand its impact throughout Sarawak.

This evolution, he added, includes partnerships and collaborations with i-CATS University College (i-CATS UC) to further enhance talent development in the state in the areas of skills and technology.
