CENTEXS produces graduates ready for employment

KUCHING: The Centre of Technology Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS) celebrated its 10th Convocation, marking a decade of excellence in talent development and the production of industry-ready workforce in line with the state’s development agenda.

Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, said that CENTEXS not only produces highly skilled graduates, but the institution has also succeeded in producing graduates who truly meet the needs of the industry through competency-based training.

“I am proud to announce that CENTEXS produces graduates who are ready for employment.

“The main objective of this industry-based competency training programme is to develop graduates and professionals equipped with the skills needed by employers across various industry sectors,” he said when speaking at the ceremony here on Thursday (Feb 12).

The convocation ceremony, which took place from Feb 10 to 13 at CENTEXS Kuching, saw 2,496 graduates celebrated, bringing the total number of graduates since 2015 to 26,063.

This convocation also made history with the recognition of the pioneering cohort of the Aerospace Programme involving 36 graduates in the field of Aerospace Sheet Metal and Machining Operations, all of whom have received job offers.

In an effort to strengthen industry collaboration, CENTEXS also signed a strategic Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with HUAWEI Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and GAMUDA Technologies.

The collaboration with HUAWEI expands the CENHUA 2.0 initiative involving training, research and pilot projects in the field of data analytics, Large Language Model (LLM) and artificial intelligence (AI), including the implementation of the Sarawak Digital Leadership Excellence (SDLE) programme.

Meanwhile, the collaboration with GAMUDA Technologies focuses on developing expertise in digital construction, AI for construction, digital management, smart tunnels and smart city development.

The ceremony also saw the launch of new CENHUA 2.0 laboratory facilities including the Large Scale Green Data Centre Laboratory, Global Artificial Intelligence (AI) Centre, Artificial Intelligence Laboratory for Large Language Model (LLM), Digital Leadership Laboratory, and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory for Construction (GAMUDA).
