KUALA LUMPUR: Equipping Malaysia’s youth with green skills is key to meeting future job market demands.

Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS) chief executive officer Datuk Syeed Mohd Hussien Wan Abd Rahman said it is crucial to integrate sustainability to technical and vocational education and training (TVET).

“CENTEXS believes that sustainability-driven TVET education can produce a youth workforce ready to pursue green careers, thereby contributing to the nation’s sustainable development agenda,” he said.

He said this in his presentation titled “Greening the Future: CENTEXS Driving Change for Sustainable Development,” during the Eco-Campus International Conference 2025 (ECIC 2025), which ran from Sept 18 to 20 at the International Youth Centre, here.

Alongside exposure to green technology concepts, CENTEXS also introduced several testbed projects serving as training and research platforms.

These include the Green Asphalt Road and Highways Testbed at Eco-Campus CENTEXS Lawas, the Smart Building and Electrical Lab, and the Green Energy Testbed.

The initiatives strengthen CENTEXS’ efforts to expand training opportunities for students and youth, under the joint call: “Help Save Mother Earth by Joining CENTEXS Green Training Programmes.”
