IPOH, Perak: The Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS) has received a donation of teaching aids worth RM1,107,851.10 from Beifang International Education, China.

The presentation took place during the official launch of the TVET@KKDW 2025 Expo at the Ipoh Convention Centre (ICC), Perak, on Saturday.

Deputy Prime Minister, who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, witnessed the handover of the contribution from Lili Han, Business Director of the Global Department, Beifang Automotive Education Group, to CENTEXS Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Syeed Mohd Hussien Wan Abd Rahman.

The event is a symbol of strategic international cooperation aimed at strengthening the country’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector.

The donation includes technical teaching and learning equipment specifically for the electric vehicle (EV) field, which will be used across CENTEXS campuses throughout Sarawak to enhance the effectiveness of TVET training.

According to Syeed, the contribution reflects international confidence in the potential of TVET institutions in Borneo and recognises CENTEXS’ role in producing highly skilled talent.

“This donation is more than just teaching aids; it symbolises trust in the potential of Malaysian youth. It will help us strengthen our high-impact training modules and ensure CENTEXS trainees remain relevant to the demands of the global industry,” he said in a media statement.

He also expressed appreciation to the ministry and Beifang International Education for their support and recognition.

This strategic partnership, he said, aligns with CENTEXS’ mission to position Sarawak as a TVET and innovation hub in the Borneo region, while also strengthening the capabilities of its trainers and expanding access to modern automotive technology.

Among the KKDW-related TVET institutions, public skills training institutes (ILKA) and private skills training institutes (ILKS) from Peninsular Malaysia that also received similar teaching aids are Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), GIATMARA Sdn Bhd Kuala Lumpur; PERDA Advanced Technical Institute (PERDA-TECH), Penang; KEDA College, Sik, Kedah; and Institut Kemahiran Tinggi Belia Negara (IKTBN) Chembong, Rembau, Negeri Sembilan.

Beifang International Education is a world-class TVET institution based in China with extensive experience in developing skilled talent through real-industry approaches.

This collaboration opens broad opportunities for knowledge exchange, technology transfer, and training methodologies between Malaysia and China.

CENTEXS and CENTEXS Commercial’s participation in the TVET@KKDW 2025 Expo also showcased various innovative initiatives, including Digital TVET, Green TVET, and techno-entrepreneurship development programmes.

These are aligned with the Malaysia MADANI agenda and the Sarawak State Government’s goal of producing a highly skilled and globally competitive local workforce.

CENTEXS believes that with continuous support from KKDW, the Sarawak Government, and international partners like Beifang, Borneo will remain a key contributor to the nation’s TVET development agenda, opening up greater opportunities for Sarawak’s youth to build a brighter future.
