KUCHING: Ceylonese Restaurant has won the ‘Crowned Favourite Malaysia Food 2025’ category at the Grab 5-Star Eats Awards, with owner Damith Senanayake attributing the achievement to the unwavering support of staff and customers.
Damith said the award was especially meaningful as it was decided through customer votes.
“We are very grateful because our customers voted us as the crowd favourite restaurant in Sarawak,” he told Sarawak Tribune.
He dedicated the award to his employees and loyal patrons, saying their continued support had been instrumental to the restaurant’s success.
The recognition, he added, has further motivated the team after years of hard work.

“We have worked tremendously hard day and night. Recognition like this gives us more motivation to continue improving,” he said.
Damith also highlighted the importance of GrabFood in helping the business reach customers seeking convenient dining options.
He said repeat orders through the platform had contributed significantly to the restaurant’s sustainability and growth.
Looking back on the journey, he described the award as a proud milestone after 11 years in the food industry.
“From a roadside stall selling fried rice, we have grown into a restaurant recognised by customers across Sarawak. I am extremely happy and proud,” he said.
He thanked customers for their continued support and pledged to work harder to meet their expectations in the future.
