KUCHING: The Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) hosted its ‘Serambi Syawal’ open house on Wednesday (Apr 8), bringing together strategic partners and government agencies to celebrate the Aidilfitri season in a classic, nostalgic setting.
The event, held for the second time, was officiated by Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, Kuching North City Hall and Islamic Affairs) Datuk Dr. Abdul Rahman Junaidi, who represented Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
SEDC chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr Abdul Aziz Husain stated that the gathering serves as a vital platform to strengthen professional bonds and foster unity among the corporation’s diverse stakeholders.
Reflecting on the corporation’s growth, Abdul Aziz highlighted that since its inception in 1972, SEDC has undergone a significant transformation.
“SEDC has evolved from focusing on basic industry and property development to strategic sectors such as renewable energy and tourism,” he said.
He further emphasised that the corporation’s true success is measured by its socio-economic impact on the community.
“Our achievements are reflected in talent development, job creation, entrepreneurship and our various corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives,” he added.
The chairman also expressed gratitude to the various ministries, government agencies and private sector partners for their continued support, noting that the spirit of unity displayed at the event transcends race and religion.
Moving forward, SEDC remains committed to driving state development in alignment with the Sarawak Maju Makmur vision and the Post-COVID Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030).
Through these frameworks, the corporation aims to ensure inclusive and sustainable growth that directly benefits the people of Sarawak.
Also present at the festivities were SEDC staff, representatives from investee companies, and various strategic collaborators from the private sector.
