MIRI: A charity run raised over RM63,000 for inclusive rehabilitation programmes here on Sunday.
The SOP Healthy Strides Run 2025, held at Marina Park City, saw over 300 participants unite in a celebration of diversity and inclusion under the banner, ‘Stride for Inclusion, Stride for All’.
The event, supported by the SOP Foundation, began with an energetic zumba warm-up before runners, including 30 clients of Healthy Strides Malaysia, children and adults with disabilities, took to the course.
A particularly moving moment was the 100-metre Special Run, where participants were met with enthusiastic cheers from the crowd.
The run itself raised RM31,895 through registration fees and sponsorships, a sum matched by the SOP Foundation, doubling the total contribution to RM63,790.
This funding will be channelled into expanding Healthy Strides Malaysia’s vital work in providing rehabilitation services and promoting inclusivity.
“This wasn’t just about crossing a finish line; it was about opening doors, breaking barriers and moving forward together,” said Eric Kiu Kwong Seng, a trustee of the SOP Foundation.
The success of the SOP Healthy Strides Run 2025 was attributed to the organising team at Healthy Strides Malaysia, technical support from the Bulatan Park Runners Club Miri, and the sponsorship of the SOP Foundation and the following companies: Jong Seng Sdn Bhd, BD Industries Sdn Bhd, Computlink Security Solutions Sdn Bhd, Mastika Trading Company, Topsonic Electrical Sdn Bhd, Oil Town Signcraft (Miri), Terre Enterprise Sdn Bhd, KP Chieng Construction and Tung Fang Motors Sdn Bhd.
