KUCHING: The 2026/2027 Charity Shield (Piala Sumbangsih) between Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) and Kuching City FC is expected to be held at the end of August in Johor Bahru, with the official date yet to be confirmed.

Kuching City FC chairman Datuk Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman said the match will serve as the official curtain-raiser for the new Malaysian football season.

He said the Charity Shield will effectively mark the start of the Malaysian Super League campaign.

“We have not received the official date, but we are expecting it to be at the end of August in Johor Bahru,” he told Sarawak Tribune after officiating at the Liga K-LSC here today (June 28).

The fixture features reigning double winners Johor Darul Ta’zim and league and Malaysia Cup runners-up Kuching City FC, following the 2025/2026 season.

Kuching City FC finished second in both the Malaysia Super League and Malaysia Cup, with Johor Darul Ta’zim lifting both titles.
