SIBU: The Ang Sheng Ho Charity Team (ASHCT) donated three new air conditioners to Sibu Hospital to help improve the comfort and environment for patients and medical staff.
The contribution was handed over to Sibu Hospital deputy director Dr Nizam Ishak on Monday.
ASHCT secretary Mac Chua said the initiative aims to enhance conditions at the Infectious Disease Clinic and Phlebotomy Unit, ensuring a more comfortable environment for both patients and healthcare personnel.
He said the team, guided by its principle of “promoting loyalty and righteousness, benefiting society”, remains committed to supporting the community and local medical institutions through ongoing charitable efforts.
“We also plan to introduce a programme to provide coffins to families of the deceased who cannot afford funeral arrangements.
“However, due to limited resources, strict verification will be carried out to ensure that assistance reaches only those who are truly in need. This ensures that every act of kindness is channelled appropriately,” Chua said.
Meanwhile, Sibu Hospital’s Board of Visitors chairman Michael Lee expressed his appreciation for the contribution, noting that it followed a recent public appeal he made.
He said that he is committed to improving facilities at the hospital and is currently exploring the possibility of providing a water dispenser for every ward, with the support of the public.
