KUCHING: Chatri Sityodtong, the chairman and CEO of ONE Championship, pointed out that Johan ‘Jojo’ Ghazali’s single-minded attack strategy could be easily exploited by well-prepared opponents.
“We know Jojo is a martial arts fighter, and that he was always ready to trade blows, but he relied on just one game plan and could not adapt (himself) during the fight.
“He needs to improve on this (if he can) because he holds some serious KO power, other than being a sharp fighter with a full arsenal. But however at the time, it was just attack, attack, attack,” said Chatri in a recent candid video interview with SNE Sports.Co.
He also emphasised that opponents, especially those with the right strategy, will eventually figure it out and adjust accordingly.
The ONE 170 Championship bout, held at Impact Arena in Bangkok on Friday (Jan 24), was a hard-fought battle, with Colombian fighter Johan ‘Panda Kick’ Estupinan ultimately outpacing Jojo with his adaptability and ring intelligence to secure victory by unanimous victory.
As Jojo looks to rebound from this setback, his raw power, natural talent, and sharp skills will make him a dangerous force to be reckoned with once he fine-tunes and expand his range of attacks and strategy.
Fans and analysts are eager to see how the talented fighter evolves and adapts for his next challenge.
