ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates: Kuching’s 10-year-old Adrynna ‘Chicha’ Thanicha Seesombat made a flying start at the IFMA Youth World Championships 2025 on Saturday.

In the 10 to 11-year-old, 32-kg female youth division, she edged past Ireland’s Eva Ines Barron 30-27, taking all three rounds.

Sharp, fast and composed, Chicha controlled the bout from start to finish.

The win sends the young Rentap Muay Thai Gym fighter into the semi-finals, where she is set to clash with Portugal on Wednesday.

The Malaysian contingent, 21 strong, are set to compete across wai kru, mai muay, and various youth divisions.

Over 100 nations are represented at the championships on Yas Island, and Chicha’s win is a strong start for the national squad.

Malaysia’s young fighters are now eyeing the medals as the tournament heats up.
