KUCHING: Ten-year-old, Adrynna “Chicha” Thanicha, has announced herself on the world stage, earning a bronze medal in the Junior 10–11 Female -32kg division at the 2025 IFMA Youth World Championships in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday (Sept 17)
The Rentap Muay Thai fighter’s journey came to a halt in the quarter-finals against Portugal’s Lina Rmich, but her spirited showing was enough to land her on the podium.
This feat that adds another name to Sarawak’s growing list of young fighters making their mark internationally.
The championships, held on Yas Island from Sept 10–20, gathered more than 1,200 athletes from over 100 countries.
Malaysia sent a 21-strong squad led by captain Mikail “Miki” Ghazali, battling across multiple divisions against the best youth prospects in the sport.
For Chicha, this bronze is more than just a medal. It is a statement , that Sarawak’s tradition of producing top fighters is alive, and the next generation is already answering the bell.
