KUCHING: A storytelling session at Taman Sahabat recently brought together dozens of children from this city.

Organised by the Kuching Love Book Association, the event featured four school teachers who animatedly shared imaginative stories.

Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng, who officiated the session, praised the organisers for their ongoing commitment to promoting literacy and instilling a reading culture among children.

“Storytelling is more than just entertainment. It opens a world of imagination and learning for children. I am pleased to see such initiatives that promote reading in a fun and engaging way,” he said in a statement.

He also noted that reading plays a vital role in shaping the minds of young learners by boosting their creativity, language skills, and knowledge.

Wee expressed hope that more reading-related activities would be held in the future to benefit more families across the city.

“MBKS continues to support programmes that encourage holistic development among children and strengthen community bonds through education and culture,” the statement added.
