Children’s literature festival cultivates reading culture

KUCHING: The Sarawak Children’s Arts and Literature Festival 2025, held in conjunction with the launch of the Reading Seeds Kit 4.0, is set to nurture a generation of young people who are knowledgeable, competitive, and artistically talented.

The Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, in a joint statement said that such initiatives are crucial in shaping a brighter future for the state and the nation.

“We commend Pustaka Negeri Sarawak for its consistent efforts in cultivating a reading culture from an early age, while also creating platforms for children to explore their creativity and artistic talents,” the statement reads.

Earlier, Fauziah attended the festival and launch ceremony at the Gallery, Pustaka Negeri Sarawak.

She was welcomed by the Chairman of the Board of Management of Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Datuk Dr Abang Abdul Rauf Abang Zen, and his wife, Associate Professor Datuk Dr Munirah Mohd Hassan.

The highlight of the programme was the official launch of the Sarawak Children’s Arts and Literature Festival 2025 and the Reading Seeds Kit 4.0, officiated by Fauziah to demonstrate her support for strengthening the reading culture and promoting artistic expression among the younger generation.

After the launch, Fauziah toured an exhibition showcasing children’s artwork before joining distinguished guests for a photo session during the festival walkabout.

She later visited several facilities at Pustaka Negeri, including the Newspaper Room, before attending a luncheon.
