KUCHING: Ennaq Joel Jeffrison, better known as Chimang Kenyalang, capped a dominant five-fight campaign with a 40–45kg Under-16 Muay Thai national title at Sukan Tempur Kebangsaan 2026 at Unifi Arena, Kuala Lumpur last night (Sept 6).
Representing Kelab Muay Thai Kenyalang, Chimang started his campaign in explosive fashion, stopping Johor’s Hadeef by technical knockout (TKO) inside the opening minute.
He needed less than a minute again in his second fight, knocking out Abdullah Al Hakim in the first round before producing another first-round KO against Selangor’s Aqie in the quarter-final.
Three fights, three stoppages, all in under a minute.
The semi-final against Johor’s Munir, however, provided a different challenge as Chimang went the distance for the first time in the tournament before securing a unanimous decision.
He then kept his composure in the final against Kedah’s Riffat Rizqi, earning a points victory to complete his 5-0 run and seal the national championship.
His brother, manager and cornerman Ennaq Jeremy said Chimang’s preparations had gone according to plan, with particular improvement in his knee striking following a training camp in Thailand.
“The final 2 weeks preparation before the fight has been good and all the fights were according to plan where Chimang improved his knee a lot especially after the training camp in Thailand.
“All of the matches won in this national competition is from his sharp and accurate knee striking which leads to the KOs & TKO and dominantly rounds winning for the match that are won by point as well,” he told Sarawak Tribune.
Chimang was accompanied throughout the tournament by Jeremy, who worked his corner alongside Coach Iswandy, while receiving support from his parents and the wider Kelab Muay Thai Kenyalang team.
Teammates Aizan and Akid also represented the club at the tournament, although both saw their campaigns end in the Round of 16.
Fresh from his national title, Chimang will not have much time to rest, with another fight already lined up at KL Fight Night on September 20, where he is scheduled to compete in a professional bout.
From three lightning-fast stoppages to two composed victories on the scorecards, Chimang finished the night unbeaten and with a national crown firmly in his hands.
