HANOI, Vietnam: China and Vietnam on Tuesday officially launched a bilateral QR code payment service in the Vietnamese capital Hanoi, marking the rollout of the service in the Vietnamese market, reported Xinhua.
The project enables consumers from China to make payments at merchants accepting the national Vietnamese QR code system VietQR using China’s mobile payment tools in Vietnam.
Speaking at the event, Nguyen Quang Minh, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Payment Corporation of Vietnam, noted that the launch of the bilateral QR code payment system represents a milestone that will strengthen financial connectivity between the two countries.
Wang Lixin, CEO of UnionPay International, emphasised that the project brings mutual benefits to businesses and consumers. – BERNAMA-XINHUA
