KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi received a courtesy visit from the Sarawak Chinese Muslim Welfare Association (PERKTHIS) at Astana Negeri here today.
The PERKTHIS delegation was led by its president, Mortadha Lau Abdullah, along with the association’s leadership team.
The purpose of the visit was to introduce PERKTHIS’s leadership to Wan Junaidi and to share updates on current developments and welfare initiatives undertaken by the association in empowering the Chinese Muslim community in Sarawak.
One of the main objectives of the visit was also to provide an update on the development of the Chinese Islamic Cultural Centre, which will be built along Jalan Bako, Kuching.
The upcoming Cultural Centre is expected to become a new landmark in Sarawak and serve as a platform for social integration, particularly in engaging with the Chinese Muslim community in the state.
In addition to being equipped with prayer facilities, community spaces, and a reference centre for non-Muslims interested in learning about Islam, the centre will also play a significant role and open more opportunities for collaboration among communities to strengthen harmony and unity in Sarawak’s multicultural society.
Wan Junaidi welcomed the PERKTHIS delegation and appreciated the association’s contributions in fostering unity, social integration and the well-being of the people.
He also encouraged such efforts to continue in building a more prosperous and harmonious Sarawak.
