SIMANGGANG: The Sarawak-level Generasi MADANI Chinese Language Carnival here drew about 600 people, including students, reflecting the younger generation’s strong commitment to preserving the language and culture.

Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister, Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, said the carnival was more than just a competition in that it served as a platform for building character, culture, identity, and enhancing the value of language, literature, and the arts.

He noted that activities such as calligraphy and poetry recitation provided children with opportunities to showcase their talents, build confidence, and strengthen their love for their mother tongue and literary heritage.

“I am proud to witness the participation of nearly 600 students, teachers, and parents from across Sarawak.

“This carnival is a reflection of the youth’s dedication in preserving the richness of the Chinese language and culture,” he said at the carnival on Wednesday.

“Remember, today you are not only representing your schools or districts, but also carry the hopes of our beloved Land of the Hornbills,” he said.

“Each poem recited, and each calligraphy created, adds to the cultural growth of our society.

“Therefore, be brave. Believe in your talents. Let today be the beginning of many greater achievements to come.

“I believe that among you are future leaders, respected individuals and responsible Malaysians with valuable knowledge and character,” he said.

He was confident that such carnivals serve as important platforms to foster unity and understanding among the diverse communities aligning with the national education goal to produce students who excel academically and are rich in cultural values.
