BINTANGOR: The Chinese language written test competition serves not only to assess academic ability but also to uncover hidden potential and develop critical thinking among students.
Meradong Assemblyman, Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing, said the annual event should be recognised as more than just a language proficiency test, as it plays a wider role in nurturing well-rounded, confident individuals.
He said the competition trains students to think analytically, strengthens their self-belief, and prepares them to face challenges beyond the classrooms.
“This initiative is timely and impactful. It goes beyond knowledge, it sharpens thinking, builds confidence, and develops character,” he said.
He was speaking at the closing ceremony of the Sarikei-level 2025 Chinese Language Written Test Competition for Chinese National-Type Primary Schools (SJKC) today.
Ding also commended the commitment shown by the students, adding that their enthusiasm demonstrated a strong willingness to push their limits.
“Regardless of the outcome, their participation is a valuable achievement. It reflects the courage to step outside their comfort zones,” he added.
