Tebedu is still grappling with inconsistent internet connectivity, with efforts needed to improve coverage in the area.

Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada said the problem, often described as “chipsmore — here one moment, gone the next” remains unresolved despite ongoing initiatives.

He said the unstable connectivity continues to affect access to information, education and digital services.

“Although there are ongoing efforts by the government through the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation Berhad (SDEC), including the SMART600 project, Multi Core Network and the upgrading of MySRBN, the issue has yet to be fully resolved.

“I urge the relevant agencies to identify the root cause and implement appropriate and practical solutions,” he said when debating on the motion of appreciation for the Head of State’s address at the august House today.

Meanwhile, Dr Simon said clean water supply, which was previously a major concern in areas such as Jalan Baki-Riih, has improved following the implementation of several government projects.

He said the proposed upgrading of the Serian-Kuching pipeline under the 13th Malaysia Plan, valued at RM250 million, is currently underway, along with a RM3.49 million pipe replacement programme in Baki-Riih.

He added that pipe replacement works in Kampung Krusen Siyu, Kampung Mawang Tahup, Kampung Sebintin and Kampung Jenan have been completed, contributing to a more stable treated water supply.

“I hope these projects will fully resolve treated water supply issues faced by residents, as well as reduce non-revenue water,” he said.

On electricity supply, he said the situation in Tebedu has stabilised following clearing works carried out along the Serian-Tebedu and Tebakang-Mongkos roads.

He said the works, including trimming and removal of trees, were implemented by Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) and Sesco.

“With that, I would like to thank the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication, SEB and Sesco Serian for addressing the concerns and helping to stabilise electricity supply in Tebedu,” he said.
