KUCHING: Christians in Sarawak are urged to continue embracing the values of love, peace, justice, unity and reconciliation while praying and striving to build a better Malaysia.

Association of Churches in Sarawak (ACS) Chairman, Right Reverend Datuk Danald Jute, also called on Christians in the state to be exemplary citizens and role models for the nation.

“As we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, let us remember that He has made us a people of faith, full of hope and love; a people empowered to serve and minister to all in His name.

“Therefore, as Christians, let us commit ourselves to serve everyone, especially the poor, the needy, and the less fortunate,” he said in his Easter message.

Danald pointed out that the Easter proclamation – “Alleluia! Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia!” – serves as a powerful reminder of the risen Christ, who was crucified on Good Friday and now lives.

“His death was for our redemption. He died for our sins so that we may be reconciled with God,” he said, citing a passage from the Bible, 1 Peter 1:3-4, which reads:

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy, He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you.”

With that, Danald said Christians have every reason to celebrate Easter.

“Wishing all Christians a very blessed Easter,” he said.
