KUCHING: The upcoming Christmas Dreamville 2.0, taking place from Dec 13 to 25 at The Hills, aims to unite people of all ages in celebrating the holiday spirit, support local entrepreneurs, and highlight Sarawak’s vibrant culture.

Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP), Datuk Snowdan Lawan said the event’s main objective is to create a magical and festive experience for both the local community and visitors alike, while also showcasing Kuching as a vibrant holiday destination.

“These goals align closely with our ministry’s vision of promoting cultural diversity, fostering community development, and enhancing tourism in Sarawak.

“By supporting local talent and entrepreneurs, we are contributing to the growth of our creative economy, while also enhancing Kuching’s appeal as a key tourism destination.

“Furthermore, the focus on community outreach and charitable giving reflects our commitment to uplifting the lives of those in need and building a caring and inclusive society,” he said during the press conference for the upcoming event at the Food Lounge, The Hills, today (Dec 9).

Snowdan said that no matter where people celebrate Christmas around the world, a Christmas market is always a must.

“We will have live performances every day and attendees can enjoy a variety of entertainment, including caroling, cultural performances, and live music by both local and regional artists.

“One of the most anticipated moments of the event will be our grand Christmas tree lighting ceremony which mark the opening of Christmas Dreamville 2.0 and bring a truly enchanting experience for everyone as we witness the lights illuminate the night sky,” he said.

He added that there will also be workshops and activities, Santa’s Grotto, Community Giving Campaign, Food and Beverage Fair along with Photo Booths and Decor.

Meanwhile,  Megan Yeo from Deservebarn, one of the co-organisers, shared highlights of the event’s exciting line-up.

“We’re excited to host the Miss Dreamville Santarina Kids and Teens Beauty Pageant Competition on Dece 15 along with Kids and Teens Christmas Costume Competition, held on the Dec 22.

“Besides, the Hills will also be ‘snowing’ every day around 8pm from Dec 13 to 25 which we have trail tested it last Thursday, and it’s really, really pretty, so don’t miss it.

“We will have a countdown on Christmas Eve, featuring fun games and a lucky draw, and we look forward to a great turnout with many tourists and families joining the celebration,” she said.
