KUALA LUMPUR: World Football Summit (WFS) announced the appointment of former Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) Executive Committee (Exco) member Datuk Christopher Raj to its Advisory Board on Tuesday (Aug 19).

WFS managing director and co-founder Jan Alessie said Christopher’s extensive experience in football media and communications through his roles with FAM, the Malaysian Football League (MFL) and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) offers a global perspective.

“Christopher’s network and insight will reinforce our mission to shape the future of the sport and to deliver the football we want and the football we need,” he said in a statement.

Christopher, who has been involved with WFS since 2020, said he had witnessed the Summit’s role in bringing together leaders who shape global football.

“To now serve on the Advisory Board, among individuals of such calibre, is an immense privilege. I look forward to contributing my experience in Malaysian and Asian football, and supporting WFS’s vision of advancing football worldwide,” he said.

Christopher is the second Malaysian to be appointed to the WFS Advisory Board, after AFC general secretary Datuk Seri Windsor John.

The Advisory Board comprises senior figures in world football, among them APO Group founder and chairman Nicolas Pompigne Mognard, former FIFA executive Luis Vicente, sports consultant Michael Broughton and former England international Sol Campbell. – BERNAMA
