KUCHING: The CHVBT volleyball team kicked off their campaign with a strong win in their first match of the tournament, defeating CHMS 1 in dominant fashion.
The team took the first set 25-10 and the second set 25-15, showcasing solid teamwork and effective rotations.
Jeremy Aaron Naiker, 17, the team’s young prodigy, explained that the focus of the first match was on testing different rotations and positions.
“We played the whole game, trying out our rotations and everything.
“It was important to use this game as a chance to try new strategies before the next challenge,” Jeremy said to New Sarawak Tribune when met at the Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian Volleyball Tournament Cup at SJK Chung Hua Kim Choo Seng on Thursday (Nov 28).
In their first match, CHVBT gave their substitutes a chance to play, as they were aiming to manage player rotations and keep the squad fresh.
Looking ahead to their next match, Naiker is optimistic despite the tougher competition.
“We’re facing a very tough opponent next, but we’ve been practicing for a while now, and we’ll give it our best shot.
“If we win, that’s great, but if we lose, it’s okay because we’ve already secured our spot in the qualifying rounds,” he said.
The next match for CHVBT will be on Saturday (Nov 30) against IJM Land.
The team is determined to continue improving and is ready to face the challenge head-on as they aim to advance further in the tournament.
