KUCHING: Citadines Langit Kuching is expected to become a new catalyst in Sarawak’s tourism sector, with a development inspired by the cultural diversity and natural beauty of the state.
Neat Plan (Hock Seng Lee Group) Director, Yu Ji, said the architectural design of Langit adopts a contemporary tropical approach, featuring a ‘facade screen’ element inspired by Dayak culture.
“Its expansive landscape reflects the uniqueness of the Bornean rainforest and will be maintained by HSL, a company well-known for its commitment to greenery.
“Tourism is one of the best creators of job opportunities as it involves all levels of society, from cleaning services and tour guides to management roles.
“In fact, even during this construction phase, it has already benefitted the supply chain, and we have always prioritised the use of local materials and contractors from Sarawak.
“The public spaces in Langit can be activated with concerts, art galleries, and various other activities that will certainly attract more tourists,” he said.
He said this in a press conference during the ground-breaking ceremony for the high rise building project, officiated by Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor, Datuk Wee Hong Seng, at Ember Traditional Charcoal Cooking here today.
Meanwhile, Ascott Malaysia General Manager, Mondi Mecja, said the strategic partnership between Ascott and the Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) is also expected to contribute to an increase in tourist arrivals to the state, especially to Citadines Langit Kuching.
“We regularly participate in international exhibitions to promote our brand, and at the same time, STB plays a vital role in this effort.
“When we attended ITP Berlin in Europe, the promotional team from Kuching was also present to directly promote Sarawak.
“Similarly, at Ascott, we support this initiative by participating in international trade fairs to jointly introduce Sarawak to the global stage, and we even receive special rates from the organisers for this purpose.
“In efforts to empower the local tourism sector, Langit will also support local brands through collaboration with the local coffee brand, Black Bean, as the official coffee supplier for the hotel.
“Guests staying with us will enjoy unlimited complimentary coffee throughout the day.
“This will be the only coffee we serve to guests as part of our support for local entrepreneurs,” he added.
