LAWAS: A nine-foot python was caught by Civil Defence personnel here after it was found in a chicken coop near a surau in Bukit Naga on Wednesday morning.

The District Operations Control Centre received an emergency call from a member of the public at 8:35 am, reporting the presence of the snake.

A four-man team was immediately dispatched and arrived on site within ten minutes.

According to Lawas Civil Defence Officer, Lieutenant (PA) Maradona Tatah, the python was discovered inside the coop and subdued using snake tongs.

The operation was completed in just over 10 minutes, with the reptile safely secured and no injuries reported.

“All four of our personnel returned to base safely with their equipment intact. The situation was under control at all times,” Maradona confirmed.

The incident was the latest in a series of callouts handled by the Civil Defence here, which routinely responds to reports of snakes encroaching on residential areas
