KUCHING: The Sarawak government and Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (PETROS) will continue to work closely with the federal government and Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS).
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said this is to ensure that PETROS carries out its role as the sole gas aggregator without interruption to the supply of gas for consumers, including investors.
Abang Johari expressed his deepest appreciation to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the statement he made during his press conference in Abu Dhabi regarding the PETRONAS/PETROS issue, which among others, clearly recognises and acknowledges PETROS as the sole gas aggregator in Sarawak.
“The Sarawak government also appreciates the roles of the federal government and PETRONAS in resolving this issue.
“This would enhance collaboration between the federal and Sarawak government, PETRONAS and PETROS.
“Such strategic collaborations will drive the efforts to make Malaysia, and Sarawak in particular, into becoming an energy hub,” he said.
Abang Johari further emphasised that the cooperation will also enhance Malaysia’s global competitiveness in attracting investments, technological research and new industries, particularly petrochemical derivatives and thus aligned towards the creation of high-paying jobs and the economic growth of the nation.
