SIBU: Cooperation between political leaders and civil servants is crucial to meeting public expectations and ensuring effective delivery of services, says Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapa’ee.
He said while not all parties may agree on how things are done, the focus must remain on delivering meaningful outcomes.
“Even though we may differ in the approaches taken, what matters most is that the outcomes have a significant impact in meeting the needs of the people as a whole.
“That is the goal, objective, trust and responsibility we must bear as leaders and as civil servants, who must serve the people with sincerity,” he said.
He said this when speaking at the Majlis Berlanggar Meja Warna Warni Riang Hari Raya Aidilfitri organised by the Sibu Division Civil Servants Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK) here last night (Apr 11).
Dr Annuar, Who is also the Nangka assemblyman, said there is much work remaining to be done in Sibu, and real progress can only happen with the concerted efforts of all levels of leadership — from grassroots to departmental heads.
“I pray that this spirit of cooperation can continue to be strengthened to ensure smooth development and progress in Sibu,” he said.
Touching on the event, Dr Annuar expressed hope that similar gatherings could be held in conjunction with other major festivals such as Gawai Dayak, Christmas and Chinese New Year.
“In Sarawak, we practise a high level of tolerance and enjoy strong cooperation among our multiracial communities. I believe after May we will celebrate Gawai.
“Whoever hosts the Gawai celebration, it would be great if similar events can be organised during Gawai, Christmas and Chinese New Year in the future.
“This will help to foster closer cooperation among civil servants and strengthen our bonds of unity and friendship,” he added.
Also present at the event were Deputy Minister for Public Health and Housing Datuk Michael Tiang, Bawang Assan assemblyman Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh, Ngemah assemblyman Anyi Jana, and Sibu Division Resident who is also the chairman of MAKSAK Sibu Abang Mohamad Porkan Abang Budiman.
