KANOWIT: Three men, including two senior citizens, escaped serious injuries after the four-wheel drive vehicle they were travelling in skidded along Jalan Kanowit-Durin, near the Machan junction yesterday (May 8).
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they received a distress call regarding the incident at 4.59 pm and deployed a team from the Kanowit station to the scene, located 16km away.
“Upon arrival, the team found that a white Toyota Hilux had skidded off the road, and one of the occupants, a 64-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and was still inside the vehicle,” the department said in a statement today.
The two other victims, the 49-year-old driver and a 63-year-old passenger, managed to exit the vehicle safely prior to the arrival of emergency personnel.
“Both the driver and the passenger did not sustain any injuries,” it added.
The injured victim was later handed over to paramedics for further treatment and the operation concluded at 5.44 pm.
