MIRI: Work has begun on a landscape upgrade at Interhill Plaza after a ground-breaking ceremony signifying closer collaboration between the Miri City Council and Interhill Group to improve the city’s urban environment.

The ceremony took place in front of Wisma Interhill Plaza before continuing with a memorandum of understanding (MoU) exchange at Pullman Miri on Friday officiated by Mayor and Pujut state assemblyman, Adam Yii Siew Sang.

“This landscaping initiative goes beyond improving the physical surroundings.

“It is a forward-looking effort to rejuvenate the area, creating a fresher, more vibrant and welcoming space for residents, businesses and visitors,” said Yii, who described the partnership as a firm commitment to meaningful transformation through public and private cooperation.

He pointed out that the project aligns with global Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those promoting healthy communities, sustainable cities and climate action, through greener designs and expanded urban landscaping.

Yii also thanked Interhill Group for its continued support, saying the MoU sets a strong foundation for future urban enhancement projects in Miri.

“I am confident that this project will serve as a model for upcoming landscape initiatives in Miri. May the implementation proceed smoothly and bring long-term benefits to the community,” he added before officiating the event.

The event concluded with the symbolic ground-breaking and MoU signing, marking the start of a project expected to enhance Miri’s urban character and advance its sustainability agenda.
