KUCHING: Kuching City FC is now on par with the elite football squad in Malaysia after successfully securing their spot in the country’s top flight football, Malaysia Super League, this year on merit.

Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said that it is an achievement that not just Kuching but the entire Sarawak is proud of, especially for the fans here.

“Sarawak through Kuching City FC continues to be competitive in the top flight football of Malaysia with a team filled with players with enormous ability and great team spirit.

“I am extremely proud of Kuching City FC achievements so far, especially last season where they managed to get into the quarter finals of Malaysia Cup, which is one of the Asia’s longest-running football competitions, and also the quarter finals of Malaysia FA Cup last season.

“Not only that, they have also secured themselves a spot in the top league, the Malaysia Super League, this year on merit,” Karim said this in his speech during Kuching City FC 2023 Official Kit Launching Ceremony held at Kuching Waterfront here on Friday night.

The Official Kit Launching Ceremony was extremely lively and filled with crowd that came to support Kuching City FC, the only club that will be representing not just Kuching but also Sarawak in 2023 Malaysia Super League.

Five different jerseys, three for the outfield players and two for the goalkeepers were unveiled during the ceremony, with white for the outfield players and blue for the goalkeeper at home, orange or purple for the outfield players and brown for the goalkeeper while they are playing away.
