CM launches PPA1M Melia Residences

MIRI: The state government will develop housing schemes for the middle income group in the state in future.

Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Haji Johari Tun Openg said it is vital to develop housing schemes for people with monthly income ranging from RM5,000 to RM10,000 to cater for their housing needs.

“The need for housing is high in the state, but people have problem with the price. So, the government will assist people to own their own home through housing schemes,” he said at the launching of the 1Malaysia Civil Servant Housing (PPA1M) Melia Residences at Parkcity Eastwood, here yesterday.

The Chief Minister said the state government would be implementing nine projects statewide involving 5,000 houses.

PPA1M Melia Residences at Parkcity Eastwood will have a total of 1,075 double-storey houses with a starting price of RM300,000, 30 percent cheaper than normal market price, built by a well-known property developer Pantai Bayu Sdn Bhd, a member of Samling Group.

Also present at the launch were Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa, State Secretary, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani, Public Service Department (JPA) director-general Datuk Seri Zainal Rahim Seman and local dignitaries.

Meanwhile, Samling Group Executive Chairman, Dato Sri Yaw Chee Ming said, Pantai Bayu Indah Sdn Bhd (PBI), a subsidiary of Perdana Park City Sdn Bhd, the main contractor for PPA1M project here, is offering double-storey terrace units at the Melia Residences.

He said Melia Residences, a 89-acre housing development, is located on part of the ParkCity Eastwood masterplan development.

The project is strategically located at Miri East which is approximately 7km from Miri Airport and approximately 8km from Miri City centre.

Moreover, this masterplan is connected directly to the Pan Borneo Highway, which links Sabah and Sarawak to Brunei.

The masterplan of ParkCity Eastwood is a 2,818-acre integrated township development comprising commercial and residential, institutional, schools, recreational park and many more.

A total of 817 units of houses have been open for registration through the website www.ppa1m.gov.my and to date 722 applications have been received.
