CM: RM1.2 mln allocation for new Samarahan business site

KOTA SAMARAHAN: The State Government will provide an allocation of RM1.2 million to build a new business site in Samarahan.

This was announced by the Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg when officiating at the Gawai Raya Samarahan Ceremony 2018 at Samarahan Civic Centre, last Monday night.

According to Johari the allocation is an initiative to assist the entrepreneurs along the roadside in Samarahan Ferry area to have the permanent and strategic business site.

“The site has been identified by the Samarahan Land and Survey Department and Resident’s Office,” he said.

He added the new site was also to introduce the Small Medium Entrepreneur (SME) in the area as to promote the local products to consumers.

“We see that Samarahan has developed well until today and congestion is occurring here; this is the effect of the new facilities especially the new bridge that opens up new business opportunities,” said the Chief Minister while adding that it was also giving a positive impact to the agriculture sector.

He also said that the Agriculture Collecting Centre in Samarahan was also in progress of construction.

“This will develop the economy to become more structured and will help to foster unity among members of the communities here,” he said.

Earlier Johari said the State Government would cooperate with Public Works Department to solve the road congestion in Samarahan-Kuching Highway by providing the relevant public facilities.

Also present were the Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Professor Dr. Sim Kui Hian; Assistant Minister of Entrepreneur and Small Medium Entrepreneur Development Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais; Sadong Jaya Assemblyman Aidel Lariwoo and Simunjan Assemblyman Awla Dris.
