KUCHING: A new environmental sustainability initiative by the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), in collaboration with the Tzu Chi Foundation Kuching, is set to materialise soon at MPP Nursery, Desa Wira here.
This project aims to promote waste segregation, recycling, and environmental education within the community.
Located within the MPP Nursery compound, the centre will not only serve as a used material segregation and recycling venue but also function as an environmental sustainability education hub. It will provide a platform for the public to learn about responsible waste management and sustainable living practices.
Additionally, the Council will collaborate with Tzu Chi Foundation to collect and analyse data on waste management trends in Padawan. This data-driven approach will help refine waste management policies, ensuring Padawan becomes a cleaner, more sustainable municipality with an improved quality of life for its residents.
Scheduled for an official launch in March 2025, this joint project between MPP and the Tzu Chi Foundation highlights the power of community collaboration.
MPP is supplying selected building materials, while the Tzu Chi Foundation is overseeing construction through volunteer efforts. To ensure cost efficiency, the project prioritises minimising construction expenses without compromising functionality.
This initiative reflects MPP’s commitment to fostering a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable living environment for the people of Padawan.
