SIBU: About 600 participants, children aged seven to 12 years old, took part in a colouring contest organised by Community MADANI Norkiah together with KRT Sungai Empawah.

According to Community MADANI Norkiah and KRT Sungai Empawah Chairman, Councillor Wong Hua, the event themed ‘Green Home, Our Responsibility’ aims to promote environmental awareness among children.

“These drawings also reflect their hopes and promises to protect our planet.

“We all need to reduce pollution, conserve resources, and safeguard our flora and fauna.

“Remember, this Earth is not our inheritance, but a loan from future generations,” he said in his speech at the programme here today.

On another matter, Wong also warned the public about online scams, including love scams, investment scams, and more.

“Please report to the relevant authorities as soon as you realise you have been scammed.

“Only by doing so will you have a higher chance of getting your money back,” he said.

Meanwhile, organising chairman, Alan Lau, said the programme serves as a special platform to strengthen the relationship between government agencies and the private sector, allowing for more inclusive and harmonious information sharing.

“The children’s colouring competition not only helps to uncover the creativity of our young ones but also teaches them noble values such as cooperation.

“Meanwhile, the exhibition held by various agencies during the programme provides important information to visitors and enhances collaboration between government and non-government agencies with the community,” he said.
