KUCHING: Aircraft manufacturer, Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd. (COMAC), is exploring opportunities to expand its business into Sarawak as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s aviation sector.
The matter was discussed during a courtesy visit by a COMAC delegation, led by Chief Financial Officer Yu Xihai, to Deputy Premier and Minister of International Trade, Industry, and Investment, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, at Wisma Sumber Alam on Thursday.
During the meeting, COMAC introduced its aircraft products and explored potential collaboration with Sarawak.
This is aligned with the state government’s strategy to enhance its aviation industry and related sectors.
COMAC, headquartered in Shanghai, was founded on May 11, 2008. It is engaged in the research, manufacture and flight tests of civil aircraft and related products as well as marketing, servicing, leasing and operations of civil aircraft.
It functions as the main vehicle in implementing large passenger aircraft programmes in China. It is also mandated with the overall planning of developing trunk liner and regional jet programmes and realising the industrialisation of civil aircraft in China.
