KUALA LUMPUR: Central Bank of Malaysia (BNM) has released two limited-edition commemorative coin series to mark Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025 and the 75th anniversary of the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM).

Available from noon on Friday until 8.59 am on Nov 17, 2025, the coins pay tribute to both national and regional milestones through distinct designs and materials.

Each collection features a sterling silver proof coin of 92.5 per cent purity, weighing 31 grams, with a face value of RM10 and priced at RM363.

The Nordic gold coins, which carry a face value of RM1, are offered differently in each series.

DOSM75 includes a single brilliant uncirculated coin priced at RM16.50 with a mintage of 5,000 pieces, while ASEAN25 offers a two-coin brilliant uncirculated set priced at RM24.20 with a mintage of 5,000 sets.

Both collections also come as a Set of 2 combining the sterling silver proof and Nordic gold proof coins, priced at RM396 and limited to 1,000 sets per series.

Prices include the 10 per cent Sales and Services Tax and are based on the current price of materials used.

The ASEAN25 design is inspired by the idea of continuity, incorporating traditional weaving motifs that flow seamlessly from one side to the other.

DOSM75

This marks a first in Malaysia’s numismatic design.

The obverse bears the ASEAN-Malaysia Chairmanship 2025 logo and a stylised fireball, while the reverse continues the weaving motif with the issuing authority and face values.

The DOSM75 coin carries the theme ‘Statistik Nadi Kehidupan’, positioning data as a reflection of everyday life and a driver of national development.

Its obverse features a hand to represent the human link to information, surrounded by circular elements symbolising the continuous flow of data.

The reverse shows the 75th anniversary logo of the statistical services at the centre, the name ‘BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA’ at the upper circumference, and the face values at the lower circumference.

Sales are conducted exclusively online at duit.bnm.gov.my.

Each buyer may purchase one Set of 2, one sterling silver proof coin, and up to five Nordic gold coins.

All valid orders will be treated equally regardless of timing, and in the event of oversubscription, allocation will be determined by balloting.

BNM has advised the public not to place orders through third parties or unauthorised platforms.
