MIRI: The Sarawak Commissioner of Buildings (COB) will take steps to assist purchasers of The Stirling development here, said Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang.
He said the assistance will include facilitating the formation of a Joint Management Body (JMB) and the convening of its first Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Tiang said the decision was reached during a meeting he chaired with the purchasers of the development at the Miri City Council office on Tuesday (Jan 6).
The meeting was held to facilitate and assist the purchasers on several issues relating to compliance with the Strata Management Ordinance 2019 and to determine the way forward.
According to Tiang, a project timeline has been set for the formation of the JMB and the holding of the first AGM.
He said certain non-compliance matters under the Strata Management Ordinance 2019 had contributed to delays in establishing the JMB and convening the AGM.
“In view of this, the Ministry, together with Miri City Council, will assist in convening the first AGM to form the Joint Management Body for The Stirling development scheme,” he said.
As an interim measure before the JMB is formally established, the COB will appoint a registered property manager to assist in managing the development.
