KUCHING: The Batu Lintang Fire and Rescue Station has strengthened its support for volunteer firefighting efforts in Batu Kawa with the official handover of personal protective equipment (PPE) and helmets to Persatuan Bomba Sukarela (PBS) N14 Batu Kawa.

The ceremony, led by station chief Raffy Saibi, saw PBS N14 president Chew Kim Soon receiving the new equipment on behalf of the volunteer team.

Raffy expressed his encouragement to the volunteers, saying he was pleased to see PBS N14 actively progressing under Chew’s leadership and stressed that a well-equipped volunteer fire team is essential for community fire safety and emergency support.

Meanwhile, Chew highlighted that the new PPE, helmets, and safety boots would boost the team’s safety and readiness while urging more community members to join PBS N14, emphasising the importance of volunteerism in protecting lives and property.

“Volunteer firefighters are not just responders; they are neighbours and friends who step up in times of need. With stronger support, PBS N14 can continue to serve the community more effectively,” Chew said.
