KUCHING: Community leaders and parents must lead by example to inspire younger generations and drive societal progress, says Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How.

He said the “power of example” remains a boundless force in shaping values, attitudes, and aspirations among youths in an increasingly complex and rapidly evolving society today.

“A responsible leader propels a community forward, just as a virtuous family nurtures outstanding individuals.”

He added that continuous self-reflection and leading by example are essential elements for sustainable growth across organisations, families, and the nation as a whole.

Speaking at the Persatuan Klan Pui Sarawak Academic Excellence Awards, See praised the association’s leadership for its dedication towards education and nurturing future generations.

The ceremony was held alongside the association’s 9th General Meeting for the 2025–2027 term, drawing members and award recipients together in celebration of achievement.

Quoting a Chinese proverb, See highlighted that nurturing individuals requires long-term commitment, especially as Sarawak advances through rapid economic and technological transformation.

He urged students to pursue knowledge passionately while remaining grounded in their roots, values, and identity, ensuring they grow into responsible and globally aware individuals.

“This award reflects not only your hard work, but also the association’s vision in cultivating talent and encouraging future contributions to society.”

Meanwhile, association chairman Penghulu Datuk Alex Pui Chow Hin described education as the foundation of societal progress and hope for every family.

“Education is the cornerstone of societal progress and the beacon of hope for every family.”

He noted that the association’s long-standing academic incentives reflect its commitment to prioritising education while encouraging holistic development among younger members of the clan.

“Good grades open doors to opportunities, but it is character and integrity that ultimately determine how far one can go.”

Pui also expressed gratitude to parents, acknowledging their sacrifices and continuous support, while noting the association will celebrate its 25th anniversary milestone in 2026.
