KOTA SAMARAHAN: Community members here, led by Muara Tuang assemblyman Datuk Idris Buang, have paid tribute to former Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman Datuk Peter Minos for his dedication and service to the people.
An appreciation dinner, organised to honour Minos’ contributions, brought together current and former community representatives from Kota Samarahan and Siburan, as well as local leaders and residents.
The event served as a gesture of gratitude for his more than a decade of service at the helm of MPKS.
Idris said the community, including residents of Muara Tuang, has not forgotten Minos’ contributions over the years.
“Datuk Peter Minos helped and did his best for all, regardless of race or religion, and this must be appreciated. The people of Samarahan will always remember him,” he said during the dinner.
In response, Minos said he had merely carried out his duties to the best of his ability, attributing Samarahan’s progress to strong community and private sector support.
“I was just doing my job to the best of my ability.
“The friendship and cooperation from the people of Samarahan were mutual. The same goes for those in the private sector.Without their support, there would have been little progress in Samarahan. My approach has always been people-friendly and business-friendly,” Minos said today (Aug 9).
Idris also commended Minos for his willingness to share his experience in Serian, a division with great potential in eco-tourism and rural development.
Minos, who was recently appointed to the new role of Serian District Council (MDS) chairman, expressed his gratitude to the government for the trust given to him.
