KOTA SAMARAHAN: The poco-poco dance was celebrated at the Poco-Poco Marathon Programme at the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) today (Feb 3).
Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah praised the dance as a unique cultural hallmark of Sarawak.
“They are good at playing around, and that’s why it has become a trademark in any celebration,” he told reporters at the programme.
He emphasised the dance’s importance not only in fostering joy but also in strengthening community ties.
The event saw a participation of 3,688 individuals, held in tandem with the Village Entrepreneur Carnival 2024.
Kota Samarahan Municipal Council chairman Datuk Peter Minos was also present.
