BETONG: It is undeniable that cooperation and close support from the community is vital in assisting police in the fight to reduce the crime index.

The matter was told by Betong District police chief DSP Zamry Alli, saying that cooperation by the community in being the eyes and ears for the force is highly needed.

“My emphasis to this was due to the fact that the district headquarters still calls for the community in channelling information to crime and drug-related activities.

“Thus, I will ensure that the delivery system will be effective towards the community in the fight against crime.

“Through good ties between the police and community, I’m confident that this will bring about a positive impact to the force,” he said this during a meeting with 17 district community leaders at the district headquarters, yesterday.

He pointed out that more meetings will be held from time to time to sustain the close ties between the two sides.

Zamry noted despite the limitations faced in terms of logistics and manpower, he remained optimistic that the district headquarters will be able to deliver in preserving the peace and order.

During the meeting, community leaders expressed their satisfaction with the services provided by the police in the district, as well as their readiness to combat crime.
