MERADONG: Three Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects have been completed here, bringing direct improvements to local community infrastructure and daily life.
The projects include the upgrading of the court at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sungai Kawi, construction of a pedestrian walkway at Rumah Stanley Miran, Sungai Buloh, and refurbishment of the Methodist Kindergarten building in Bintangor.
Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Deputy Minister, Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii, who is also Sarikei Member of Parliament and Repok Assemblyman, stated that the implementation of RTP reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing rural infrastructure and narrowing the development gap between urban and rural areas.
“RTP is a crucial initiative to ensure rural communities gain access to safer, more comfortable infrastructure that supports their well-being,” he explained.
He made these remarks in conjunction with the official handover of the projects, which was officiated by his representative, Gung Chiu Kion.
“Each project provides tangible benefits; the upgraded sports court promotes youth participation in healthy activities, the walkway enhances daily safety, and the improved kindergarten underscores the government’s emphasis on early childhood education,” he added.
The handover programme was organised by the Meradong and Julau District Council and held separately at each project site.
