SARIKEI: The Sarawak Government’s commitment to improving rural infrastructure is evident with the completion of several key road development projects in Sarikei, significantly enhancing connectivity for local communities.
Implemented under the Mesra Rakyat Project 2025, the initiatives include the upgrading and construction of concrete roads at Jalan Arak Sulai, Sungai Meramat, aimed at improving access for residents in the area.
Additional concrete road construction is underway at Jalan Christopher Berai, Sungai Meramat, with another improvement project at Jalan Sing Ling located in the Jalan Ulu Sungai Pilit area, Sungai Meradong, Bintangor.
Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities and Sarikei MP Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii said the projects were designed to deliver long-term benefits by improving essential infrastructure and easing daily travel for residents.
“These projects enhance road user comfort and safety while contributing to the broader development and well-being of local communities,” he said.
Huang expressed gratitude to all parties involved in the successful delivery of the projects and emphasised the importance of continued collaboration to ensure quality implementation.
A completion verification session was conducted with the Sarikei Public Works Department (JKR), attended by Wong Soon Mee, representing Huang, who also serves as Repok assemblyman.
