KUCHING: A man and a woman, who attempted inter-district travel without a permit, were told by police to go home at a roadblock at Mile18, Kuching-Serian Road on May 22.

Padawan district deputy police chief DSP Lim Jaw Shyong, who led the special operation, said both offenders were also compounded under Rule 5(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within The Infected Local Areas) No. 6 2020

“In the operation around 4.30pm, we found two individuals who did not have inter-district travel permits and with no reasons to leave their homes,” he said.

Each vehicle was inspected thoroughly during the operation by the police, assisted by the army.

Most drivers have adhered to the inter-district travel rule by having permits or company letters.

Lim also advised the drivers to prioritise cleanliness and encouraged them to use face masks and practise social distancing when going out.
